The Intolerable Acts

8H3 The student will analyze the role of Georgia in the American Revolution.
a. Explain the immediate and long-term causes of the American Revolution and their impact on Georgia; include the French and Indian War (i.e., Seven Years War), Proclamation of 1763, Stamp Act, Intolerable Acts, and the Declaration of Independence.

E.Q.: What are the Intolerable Acts and what happen in the colonies because of these acts?


Today we are going to look at the affects of the Intolerable Acts on the American Colonies.

There are places, people, and events that are important to our history.

I want you to explain the Proclamation of 1763, Intolerable Acts and the affects in Georgia, and what caused the people to want Independence from England.

The French and Indian War and the American Revolution.

E.Q.: How did the French and Indian War affect relations with the colonies and Great Britain and start the American Revolution?

Today I want you to create a graphic organizer on paper explaining how the French and Indian War change relations with Great Britain. Who fought in in the French and Indian War and what was the out come?

Then I want you to explain the Intolerable Acts and how the Georgia Colonists reacted to the acts. I want G.O. on you own paper created for this also.

Colonial Period

SS8H2 The student will analyze the colonial period of Georgia’s history.
a. Explain the importance of James Oglethorpe, the Charter of 1732, reasons for settlement (charity, economics, and defense), Tomochichi, Mary Musgrove, and the city of Savannah.
b. Evaluate the Trustee Period of Georgia’s colonial history, emphasizing the role of the Salzburgers, Highland Scots, malcontents, and the Spanish threat from Florida.
c. Explain the development of Georgia as a royal colony with regard to land ownership, slavery, government, and the impact of the royal governors.
